Pieter de Korver Wins EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo

Pieter de Korver, an unlikely player from the Netherlands, fought through an
extremely tough field of 935 players to take the EPT Grand Final first prize of
3,000,000$.  At one point at the final table de Korver was down to only three
 big blinds, but battled back.

In the final hand De Korver was facing 2nd place winner Matt Woodward.  De Korver
held 9-6 to Woodward's 6-4, and the flop came 10-6-5.  Woodward bet 700k, and de
Korver raised all-in almost immediately.  After some consideration Woodward called.
The turn came Queen of Spades, and the river 7 of spades, making no difference
in either case.  De Korvers superior 9 kicker took it all.  Matt Woodward received a
little more than 1.7 million for his second place finish.  Here's a look at the top five
 winners list:

1)Pieter de Korver: 3.05 million dollars
 2)Matt Woodward: 1.72 million dollars
 3)Mikhail Tulchinskiy: 1.06 million dollars
4)Dag Martin Mikkelsen: 796 thousand dollars
 5)Eric Qu: 623 thousand dollars

Vanessa Rousso was the winner of the High Rollers Event on Sunday, taking down
down a prize of 700,000 Euros.  It was a star studded tournament, featuring such
big names as Phil Ivey and Gus Hanson.

The final hand set Rousso against second place winner Randy Dorfman.  Rousso held
6-7 to Dorfman's K-5.  The flop came 3-9-8.  Rousso drew the straight on the turn
which was a 5, and a King on the river sealed Dorfman's fate.  Dorfman received
434k Euro's for his second place finish.
