How To Play Razz Poker
Razz
is a variant of seven card stud, but instead of the best hand
winning, the worst hand wins. The best hand in Razz
is 5-4-3-2-A, where the Ace is counted as a low card.
Straights and flushes do not count against hands in
Razz-they just don't come into play. The 5 through
Ace low hand is also called the "wheel". Pairs on the other
hand do have value in Razz, and serve to improve(in this case make
worse) player hands. It is unlikely though that
hands with pairs in them will take the pot, or even get
played to the showdown, as it is statistically likely that a winning
hand will have no pairs.
In Razz the highest
card by suit will start the betting, with a forced bet, or a
"bring-in". The low hand acts first on subsequent rounds.
If a low hand is tied, the first player clockwise from the
dealer will start.
Fixed Limit games will use the
lower limit on third and fourth streets, and the upper
limit on all rounds after that. |
